My Special Order Has Arrived...????

Yes. You read me right! The Dress. It has arrived to the bridal salon. Fifteen weeks EARLY! I got an email last week saying that "My Special Order Has Arrived" from David's Bridal, and I was thinking, NO. WAY. I ordered my dress on the second of this month, and it arrived barely two weeks later! I was fully expecting to wait the three months, but this is an exciting surprise!

I'm heading home this Saturday to pick it up and try it on bringing my new something (next post) to try with it! (I might "jack" myself up with my earrings, shoes, and a trial hair flower I made (also another post) to see the whole picture). I also got my petticoat in! EEEE!

Scheduling fittings with alterations is the next step. Which makes me a little nervous since I am absolutely the girl who buys off-the-rack and pretends not to notice if the garments don't fit me right.

Or can't afford a tailor...
I am beyond excited and ever since I purchased my dress, I have been gleefully planning my bridal look and it's all becoming more and more real every day! I can't wait to try on my actual dress!

Any advice for alterations appointments from ladies who have gone through the fitting process?

Thank you!

Best,

Micah

Friday Finds!

It has already been a week?! Whew! Time is flying! (274 days left to the wedding!)

Tangent: Something you may realize about me; sometimes (read: all the time) I get excited and use too many exclamation points. in emails, texts, etc. My friends tease me about this, but I am a firm believer that no exclamation point gets left behind. So I often overuse them. I noticed because I have already used 4 and I haven't even really gotten into the post yet. Sorry I'm not sorry.

Saucy Wedding Accessories

A few posts ago, I mentioned I found a saucy little addition to my Bridal accessories? Well, guess what arrived in the mail today! Oh, scram Patrick!

I received a small package, and when I opened it I found a sweet little parcel with two cute notecards.

The notecard about the garters reads:
The Old, New, Borrowed, Blue Garter by Rosebud Lips

The antique brooch is old
The silk is new
The lace is borrowed from a dress
The silk is blue
I hope you treasure this for years to come, and even pass it on to your next generations

How sweet? The second card details that the Etsy Shop I made the purchase from Rosebud Lips has a partnership with "Mercy Ministries of America," helping women who have been trapped in oppression. Each purchase is in part a donation to this organization, bringing hope to those women seeking freedom from life-controlling problems such as addiction, depression and eating disorders.

I LOVE the garters! Each is handmade, and I can't wait to slip them under my dress! Enough with that, here are the pictures:

Seriously, don't look babe!

Is he gone?

Good.

Here they are!

I love, love, LOVE them! The people at Rosebud Lips were wonderful! So prompt to respond to questions, and so customer oriented. I would say that the shipping took longer than expected, but my inquiries on that were answered almost immediately. And ultimately, the parcel arrived when she said it would. (I've got, like, nine months, everything's cool). But it was such a lovely thing to come home to!

How about you? Any saucy wedding day attire coming your way soon?

Best,

Micah

Running of the Brides - Boston

This is what I normally think of when I think of the Running of the Brides.
Ahhh! Run away, run away!
I have always been too lame to think about participating in the Running of the Brides in my town, just because well, I know myself and I feel like I would get too overwhelmed with all of the choices. (Also, I already bought my Dress) But, I got an email from our very own trusty Knot.com this morning and I thought I would post it for any Boston-area brides that feel like earning their gowns by sheer agilitiy and will power (not that brides who don't participate do not exhibit sheer agility and will power, I know I did).

It's a great way not only to save a TON on your wedding dress, but to bond with bridesmaids, sisters and mamas, and to make lasting fun memories and share wonderful stories about your dress shopping experience! It's cute, fun, and a wonderful way to spend the day.

Anyway, here's the info!

Boston Runnning of the Brides at Filene's Basement
215-227 Needham St.
617-332-1295
From 8:00am-9:00pm
Head to the website: http://www.filenesbasement.com/running-of-the-brides/ for more details!

Good luck and happy Dress Hunting!

All the best,

Micah

Bride Brain, defined...(you are not immune!!!)

I was reading Weddingbee this morning, (which is totally out of the ordinary a normal beginning to my work day) when I came across the lovely Miss Ladyfingers' post on Bride Brain! It seems this is an issue that most brides face at varying points in wedding planning. I love the post and just wanted to share the Urban Dictionary definition she feature as a supplement to my previous BB post.

Bride Brain [’ˈbrīd’-’ˈbrān’]:
A less invasive, but more expensive version of a frontal lobotomy. Experienced by most brides, as they enter a catatonic state which renders them incapable of sustaining any thought or conversation that does not involve cake, caterers, flowers, wedding dress designers, Chinese wedding dress knock-off designers, updos, hair pieces, color schemes, wedding themes, and personalized M&M’s.

Bride Brain symptoms include, but are not limited to, driving erratically because they can’t stop staring at their shiny diamond ring; being amused by the resentment of all their single girlfriends, rewinding songs several hundred times while imagining themselves walking down the aisle, and starvation induced bitchiness which is generally followed by late night binging at a Dairy Queen. (Note that this can only occur outside of the bride’s native geographic area, where they can’t possibly run into anyone they know.)

Symptoms are ordinarily well controlled with valium, alcohol and endless hours of watching youtube “first dance” videos.

Thanks, Miss Ladyfingers! Any brides out there dealing with some BB lately? Unfortunately, I don't have any DQs next to me, but I have my trusty cupcake bakery to deal with the symptoms (I may or may not have brought a half dozen home from work with me yesterday).

Best,

Micah

Bridesmaids (An awkward love letter)...

No Not the movie.
Although it is hilarious....
I'm talking about my bridesmaids. My girls! There are seven of them, and I couldn't be more honored, more proud and happy to have them stand with me on my wedding day. They're awesome, and so supportive!!! (I wrote a ridiculously long and detailed wedding-update-email to them at 11:15 two nights ago and almost everyone responded right away!) They are all beautiful, talented and smart women, all have my respect and love. And all are very special to me.

Alex, Maid of Honor, sister
Claire, Patrick's sister
Amber, Patrick's cousin
Abbie, best friendie
Erica, best friendie
Katie, best friendie
Joelle, best friendie

To Alex, my little sister and Maid of Honor, I love you with all my heart. I am so proud of you. You are growing up to be such an amazing person! I love you, forever.

To Claire, I cannot WAIT to have you as my sister!! You are so sweet and unflinching in kindness.

To Amber, I also cannot WAIT to be a part of your family. You are an amazing woman, and I honestly look up to you.

To Abbie, Nyello --- you put up with my awkies sense of humour, cupcake/crafting soliloquies, and still manage to stay best friends with me! You are such a role model for me in your grace, creativity and passion. Love ya girl!

To Erica, you have taught me so much about what it is to be an actor in love. I have learned so much from you. You are beautiful, talented and one of the most generous people I know. Love you!

To Katie, you let me be myself! In all seriousness, you do. And that is something that I have rarely had in my life. Thank you. Love!

To Joelle, oh hai, you are amazingly, energeticly loving and you are always always there for me. And I will always be there for you!!!

I feel kind of silly writing this post, as I do not feel that words can really describe my relationships with each of these girls. I am honored that they will be standing with me as I marry Patrick, and I simply could not see my wedding without them. The are the ultimate gift I can have in my life for friends, and I am so grateful!

Love you girls. Thank you for your unwavering support, wise words, kind thoughts, consolation, encouragement, love and everything else that my grace-less thoughts have failed to mention.

Yours,

Micah
