Eve Photography - Making us feel like models!

I know I mentioned that our photographer is AMAZING. But she went and amazed us yet again! We were thrilled to have another engagement shoot done last week, and even though we had our e-pics done by a friend before we found Evgenia, it was a great way to see how we would work with her on the day with a sort of "practice shoot."

I had seen her portfolio, and her website and was already impressed, but Patrick and I were floored when we saw the pics from this shoot! So, I found a new blue dress, and Patrick and I headed to the South End in the late afternoon of last Tuesday.

We had so much fun and the locations were beautiful! And though it took a few shots for us to relax and get confident, I am so happy with the pictures. Check them out!

 She was so great at making us feel confident and giving us little tips on how to hold ourselves for the most flattering looks.



But, she also caught moments "between poses" that were truly *us*.

And the lighting outside on the water was spectacular!

I love how energetic and passionate she is as a photographer. And how caring she is as a person. She's become a real good friend of ours. No need to mention her artistic talent (she's also shot dancers of Lady Gaga's, as well as other celebs!), and she is always working so hard to better her craft. That really speaks to Patrick and I, as artists ourselves.

We had a wonderful time at the shoot and cannot wait to see what she gets this Saturday!!!

Save the Dates, Part Three! ...The Epic Conclusion.

After months of working on the design, ordering samples, testing out stamps and ink pads, and gathering addresses, tonight was the night. Our Save-the-Dates have finally been sent out into the world to find our guests! From Patrick's design, to the print out, to some stamp tests and swirly designs, to assembling all the cards together, it's been such a fun process!!!

The reason for the swirls on the back is none other than this; I felt it looked plain just having the blank white envelope. Being too impatient to wait for custom stickers to arrive by mail like I mentioned before, I decided to get artsy and draw pretty things. And that happened.

After hand addressing each envelope, double, triple and quadruple checking each address and name spelling (it was actually necessary since I found a mistake on the quadruple check on one!!!), they were finally completed.

Patrick and I walked to the nearest post box and let them fly. It occurred to me as we were walking home: this is the first real insight to our wedding that our guests will receive. The first little glimpse. And it's that much more real!

Save the Dates, Part One!

I'm too immature and embarrassed to call them STDs without smirking like a twelve year old boy. But I am so excited because as you know, we had our engagement shoot last March and soon after we got the CD, P started working on our Save-the-dates! I am pleased to say that he quickly came up with a beautiful design. And we are using one of the pictures from the E-pic shoot!!! After browsing through the many amazing pics we were lucky to get, we found our winner!

We really loved the composition of the photo (I told you,  Studio Nouveau = Genius!) Patrick loves messing around in Photoshop and came up with several graphic designs we have used for his composer's collective group, and the poster for my theater company (He's got a knack for it). Enough gloating, here's our final design!

What do you think? I really like it(Not to mention the savings in that its black & white themed)! Ooh! And he made us a cute little monogram, that I am thinking we use as a sticker seal on the envelopes, or maybe the belly-band for our invites!

"Love" by Robert Indiana

It reminds me of Robert Indiana's "Love" Sculpture. Anywho, I am very proud of P-man, I think he did a fantastic job...AND we ordered prints last Friday. They came in yesterday!!! We are so excited (if you couldn't tell from the overwhelming amount of exclaimation points)! We ordered them from http://www.vistaprint.com/ and love the way they turned out. Vistaprint has (so far) been a great tool for me. I've ordered totebags, t-shirts, you name it, and have always been satisfied. When I asked Patrick if he'd like to DIY our Save-the-Dates and invitations, he was really excited. I knew that we could count on Vistaprint for a good price and a great result! We opted for a 6"x9" which may seem large, but we really like it. We're going for plain white envelopes for the cards, and plan on embellishing them. My handwriting is pretty good, I'm told, so I will be hand-addressing them, and we bought this gem from etsy for the return address (thanks to encouragement from bm Abbie!)

I plan on using bright blue ink pens to address and to buy a bright blue ink pad to return address them. And now, for the stamps. I have my heart set on some kind of stamp that has the word "Love" on it. I really like the classic King/Queen of Hearts card stamps.

 And there's always the chance that I get lazy and take whatever pretty ones I find at the post office. :-) I have time...::cough:: we still need to get the addresses from our guests ::cough:: I'll be sure to post a picture of the final product! The Ever Epic E-pics!

Finally. The wait is over! I will post our Engagement Pictures! I have been teasing you for far too long! :)

Here's the story: In January, I was in a little musical called "Into the Woods,"by Mr. Stephen Sondheim. This was before we were engaged (actually the week before he proposed the show went up). Anywho---I got to perform alongside this amazingly talented lady: Kate Harper.

Turns out that she, being amazingly talented, also is an excellent professional photographer and co-owns a prominent studio in Boston with her good friend Lara Woolfson. This is The Studio Nouveau. They are "two cheeky girls with one chic vision" and they are so wonderful! (Look them up!!!!!)

After we got engaged, I was thinking about researching them for our photographers. While it didn't quite work out and we are going with another photographer, Patrick and I did have the amazing opportunity to participate in an Engagement session shot by Lara from the Studio Nouveau. We shot in a beautiful house/mansion with Lara and what a blast we had! Here are some of our favorites:

I cannot recommend The Studio Nouveau enough for photography. As you can see, not only are they great photographers, but they truly care and want to get to know the couple while having a good time. They made us feel very comfortable, and I loved being able to be a part of the session! Bottom line, if you are looking for a fun-loving duo for your wedding/engagement/maternity/boudoir (seriously, they do everything!)
